This summer the Netherlands will host the Women’s EURO. For the first time in history the Netherlands will host this event, which, with sixteen participating teams will be the biggest WEURO thus far. The tournament will start on July 16 and ends on August 6. In total there will be 31 matches played in seven host cities. In Doetinchem there will be five matches in total: four group stage matches and one quarterfinal. Besides football, that else has Doetinchem to offer its visitors?
Doetinchem is located in the east of the Netherlands. It’s the only host city in Gelderland. Doetinchem has various activities to offer its visitors, whether you like to chill out or want to get active. There are all kinds of restaurants and shops downtown. If you like to spend your days more active, there’s a forest-rich area right on the edge of town – ideal for walks or running. Doetinchem is most famous for its market. You can find all kinds of things there in various stalls: from veggies to flowers and from fruit till fabrics and everything in between.
Siri Worm plays for the Dutch national team and also plays for FC Twente. Besides her football activities, she is also the ambassador of Doetinchem. She knows everything about the city she grew up. “My favourite place in Doetinchem has to be Grutstreet, there are so many restaurants and cafes there. It’s a great place to hang out with friends. The atmosphere is amazing. Doetinchem is a small city but there’s a lot to do for visitors.”
